BENEFITS FOR BECOMING A CENTENNIAL PARTNER

Grow your organization or business

There is not a single organization or business that does not want to grow their membership or increase their customer base. The centennial is a once-in -lifetime event. Statistics show that towns, cities, counties and of course countries experience a building of a sense of community, a unity of purpose and future while planning and participating in programs and events that highlight the shred history. The fight to divide from DeSoto County lasted some 20 years. Victory resulted in the promise of home rule. The battle was hard fought and on April 23,1921, citizen of Charlotte County looked to a bright future which they got to determine. Here in Charlotte County in 1996, the 75th anniversary of the founding of the county brought about increases in historic preservation, increased memberships in historical-based groups and some of the county's most extensive books on our history.

Heritage is linked to increases in everything from the quality of life for the residents, to the much needed tourism dollars that fund our county improvements. Heritage and historic preservation are proven to increase property values and protect against  prolonged periods of devalued real estate. The historians on our community can help your organization or business find the right match, the best fit for your support and involvement in the Charlotte County Centennial year.

Benefits to your business or organization:

Increased membership or customer base of educated and affluent residents and tourists

Heritage tourism statistics show that people engaged in history make great customers and members.

Organization or business brand is enhanced by identifying with pride in local history

Even if you are a national company, you will benefit from showing support for local history and historic preservation. Just ask Wells Fargo. Every branch displays the local history in their front lobby.

Your organization or business is not nowhere

By signing on a partner, you affirm  that you operate in a particular somewhere, and that somewhere is the result of people and events to brought it into being. In 2021, our somewhere turns 100 years old. That 100 years and the centuries that came before are not shared with anywhere. Collectively they are our unique and authentic history. When residents learn that history, they experience life here more fully. When we communicate that authentic history elsewhere, we become a destination point for much needed tourism.

The gains achieved with a varied and well-planned centennial year can be long-lasting.

Unlike a party, gains made in working as partners, gains made by grassroot community-based projects and programs can lay the groundwork for future endeavors. The benefits can be experience  long after the centennial is over.

BE A PART OF HISTORY

Charlotte County historian and author Ted Ehmann's History of the County

Charlotte County Centennial 2021 partner, Ted Ehmann is working hard, researching an writing a history of Charlotte County in time for our centennial on April 23,2021. His proposal is already at his publishers, Pineapple Press. The history of Charlotte County , as with his other two histories with the publisher continues to the present day. Ehmann believes that "history repeats itself". Working with the original white settlers to the Peace River and Charlotte Harbor after the Civil War, he illustrates how cultural norms and values by  the first to develop the wilderness here continue to this very day.

Ehmann, will have chapters on the last decades of the twentieth-century. As with newspaper sources in the nineteenth-century, they are not usually reliable for factual accounts. Because he moved here after 2000, if you lived here from 1990 through 1996, your knowledge and accounts would be invaluable to his research. If you, or anyone you know can speak to this time in Charlotte County, your assistance will make difference. You can contact the author at (732) 740-5055.
